Sustainability
Groundwater Gallery is making CLEAN changes
to its way of doing business. We want to be part of a solution to
making a difference to our environment, a business with sustainable
values and practices.
Here are a few ways we are doing this:
- The company has traded in it's full size Cargo Van to the all-time
gas efficient Honda Civic vehicle. When large artworks need transporting,
we rent a van, instead of driving a van full-time. This saves
over 90% on gas and CO2 emissions.
- Reused and recycled all paper supplies
- Reduced the use of effluent water
- Reduced the use of energy, with energy saving light-bulbs
- Provide barrier cream for cancer causing chemicals in acrylic
- Developed a "no paint or paint-water down the drain"
rule
- We turn all electric devices off when not being used: printers,
scanners, radio/stereos, lights, computers, fans, heater, etc.
Community Responsibility
- Aim for constant learning by: tree planting, tree propagation,
attending the International Association for Environmental Impact
Assessment (I.A.I.A.) annual meetings and local meetings, consulting
greenhouse growers on biological pest control, talking with the
public about sustainable practices, etc.
- Participating in Weekend to End Breast Cancer, 24-hour Relay
for Cancer, Paws for Cause.
- Supporting BC S.P.C.A., World Society for the Protection of
Animals
- Volunteering at various events such as Art Judge for Southpointe
Academy in Tsawwassen, Saskatoon Community Youth Art Program,
in Saskatoon, Art in the Village in Ladner.
